Award Winners to be Recognized on September 20th
|
Join us on Monday, September 20th at 7 pm at the Andrew Jackson
House, at 277 East Mill Street, Akron, for the presentation to the
recipients of the 2010 Architectural Heritage Awards. Applications
have been reviewed by a jury of seven highly qualified individuals
selected by representatives of the Summit County Historical Society
(SCHS) and Progress Through Preservation (PTP) who are jointly
sponsoring the awards. Awards were last given in 2001, and this
year’s ceremony should be a gala evening, including a special award
given in honor of Ruth Clinefelter who passed away August 12th.
Ruth was a dedicated Progress Through Preservation Director and
an Emeritus Director of the Summit County Historical Society, and
this is a fitting way to honor her legacy.
Mingle with award winners, their friends and family, architects,
designers, plus past award recipients during the hors d’oeuvres and
wine reception beginning at 7 pm. Short guided tours of the Andrew
Jackson House will be offered at 7:10 pm and 7:30 pm. The
program, beginning at 7:45 pm, will feature the introduction of the
jurors and the announcement of the 2010 Architectural Heritage
Awards recipients and the recipient of the special award given in Ruth
Clinefelter’s honor. The evening’s ceremony will conclude at 8:30 pm.
Tickets to the awards ceremony for SCHS and PTP members are $25
per person. You may purchase your ticket via PayPal or send your
check made payable to PTP to:
